We’re out here just trying to survive! MICHELLE BUTEAU — one of the country’s funniest stars in comedy is hitting the road for a new tour. This year, she’s serving up another round of relatable tales and crazy life antics as she explores the everyday chaos of living (or surviving rather). From relationships, parenting, to dealing with body positivity, she’s got a lot to unpack — and you have loads of laughs to burst out.
Speaking of thriving and surviving, this year’s tour is all about exploring the everyday struggle and facing it head-on. This tour follows Buteau’s successful Netflix show and memoir — “Survival of the Thickest,” created and executive produced by herself. Inspired by her autobiographical essays, the series first came out in 2023 with a second season fresh off the shelves last March. The show received an “Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television)” award from the 55th NAACP Image Awards which honors outstanding works of representation and achievement for people of color.
Based on her memoir of growing up in New Jersey and juggling jobs, dating, meeting her husband, and diving into stand-up comedy, it’s a story that focuses on a real-life New Yorker.
“I wanted to show what it’s like to say yes to a life that’s not really yours,” she told Rolling Stone. “So, the hot guy that’s on the come-up in TriBeCa with 30-foot ceilings and shit? He cheats on you. What’s your money gonna get you? It’s the one-and-a-half-bedroom in Crown Heights.…” to which she exclaims that it’s a lovely neighborhood.
After three days as a news reporter, she soon became burnt out from overnight shifts, and then tried to pick up the mic to do stand-up. Navigating the comedy journey together with people from different walks of life, it was all about making the dream come true.
Michelle Buteau’s journey from news reporting and living life’s chaos has all led to her huge success as a relatable comic today. Her recent Netflix special “WELCOME TO BUTEAUPIA” won a Critics Choice Television Award for “Best Comedy Special.” She has also starred in various TV shows and films, including “BABES,” “Key & Peele,” “First Wives Club,” “Isn't It Romantic,” and many more. Known as the host of Netflix’s “The Circle” — a reality competition show, she’s a powerful voice in entertainment today. She’s also the host of the second season of “Barbecue Showdown,” and also set foot on stage to host the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
As one of comedy’s queens, she’s able to stir up the crowd in every show she serves. Setting foot at the Majestic Theatre Dallas, the venue’s stunning architecture and grand vibes is a perfect fit for her legendary comedy sets. With thousands of comfortable seats in the house, all you gotta do is sit back, relax, and burst out in hysterical laughs as her stories, jokes, and striking reflections shake up the night.
