Sam Raimi’s legendary and groundbreaking movie is hitting the theaters again, and fans get to watch the movie with live performances of the original movie scores by non-other than Joseph LoDuca.
Evil Dead (1981), follows five hopeful college students on a typical vacation, staying at an isolated cabin in the woods. One dark night, the students unleash pure evil upon Earth and themselves. Throughout the movie, each fights for their survival. Will any of them make it out alive? You just gonna have to watch it to find out.
Since its release on October 15th, 1981, the Evil Dead movie by Sam Raimi has become a global cult horror classic of all times. 40 years on, the movie is still considered to be one of the most unique horror movies due to its unconventional take on what is considered to be nightmarish. But that’s not the only thing that has given it the legendary statues that it has.
The Evil Dead movie is also known for its memorable and beautifully crafted musical score by Joe LoDuca. Raimi and LoDuca shared a mutual interest in action figures and all things weird and magical, and, perhaps, it was this shared likeliness that shaped the collaboration to a high degree. In the late 70’s and early 80’s, the synthesizers were becoming a more commonly used instrument, especially in horror movies after its use in 1978's Halloween by John Carpenter. With a limited budget and a piano, guitar, a string quartet and a couple of the crucial synths, LoDuca crafted one of the most memorable and eerie scores of all time.
The iconic horror film will be screened in a newly improved format, and brought to life on stage with live performance of the revised original score by Joe LoDuca. Fans are expected to experience a blend of “cinematic chaos, demonic energy, and killer sounds”. The live experience aims to thrill and chill the living souls.
