"I'm a hyperactive person," Hernandez told Rolling Stone. "In school, I was using my powers for evil. I was misbehaving in class." He gave it a shot in his senior year, and oh boy he was a natural.
It's clear why his energies are so infectious on TV and on stage. The man started doing comedy & short-form videos across social media, and made rounds on TikTok. Interviewing celebrities including Nicky Jam, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Floyd Mayweather, his "Only in Dade" series became a viral hit. Making the big decision to move to New York in 2019, he started purusing stand-up comedy full time. In 2022, he was selected by Just for Laughs as the 'New Face of Comedy.'
An unstoppable force in this new generation of comics, he was given the honor to be NBC's Saturday Night Live's first Gen-Z cast member. The young ones are taking over. With millions of audiences laughing-out-loud and spreading much praise for his antics and recurring characters, he's won everyone's hearts. Playing Don Francisco in a parody sketch of Sabado Gigante, Francisco himself thanked SNL and Hernandez for "bringing back memories of our Sábado Gigante."
Beyond his Gen-Z representation, he also made headlines as one of the only four Latinos to ever make it in the show's 50-year run. "I was happy to be one of four. It’s not a lot. So, there’s a bit of a responsibility I felt, too," he shared with Rolling Stone. "But also, it’s like, I can’t not write about what I’m writing about. That’s just what naturally comes to me."
A powerful statement, "I don’t want to change my voice for anyone," he says, sharing how he wants to be who he truly is, and if there's something pressing around the world that he knowns about, he won't hessitate to talk about it while making sure he doesn't overstep his boundaries.

"Marcello is effortlessly himself, an identity shaped by Latinidad and Miami, strong women, a hungry brain — all of which are evident in a single gesture or look," Pedro Pascal told Rolling Stone.
