Classical meets heavy metal, and the cello becomes a rock instrument – as heavy as the heaviest electric guitar riffs, as gentle as its softest classical tones. When a classical instrument gets a heavy metal spin, excitement becomes exhilarating. When virtuoso classical technique meets heavy metal shredding, it becomes explosive. Enter Apocalyptica – one of metal’s greatest, unique, and most unlikely successes - and they are coming to the Majestic Theatre Dallas on 8 March 2025 with their latest massive tour, Plays Metallica Vol. 2, alongside guitar virtuoso Nita Strauss!
The legendary cellists from Helsinki that blew the world away with smash hits such as “Not Strong Enough”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “One”, and “I Don’t Care” are coming full circle with their epic Metallica covers that changed the world’s mind about ‘classical meets heavy metal’, and are simply not to be missed! Tickets are selling from only $74 and are flying faster than bows over strings, so hit that button now and get yours!
What is classical music else than heavy metal music before electricity was discovered?
When four classically trained cellists from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki first got together and released the debut album, “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos”, in 1996, the world held its breath. The album contained eight incredible Metallica covers, including “Enter Sandman”, “Master of Puppets”, and “Sad But True”, and it was a game changer. Apocalyptica emerged as a tribute band but took on a neoclassical metal style without the use of conventional guitars and bass. With covers of smash hits by other heavy metal legends such as Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera and hair-raising collaborations with iconic musicians such as Ville Valo of HIM, Till Lindemann of Rammstein, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, and Joseph Duplantier of Gojira, Apocalyptica carved themselves out one of metal’s greatest bands.
So far, the world-renowned Apocalyptica has released eight rapturously received records and sold more than 6 million albums whilst touring relentlessly, playing to sold-out crowds around the globe.
The massive tour kicks off in February 2025 in Washington, in support of the release of the follow-up album of Apocalyptica’s legendary debut album, "Plays Metallica Vol. 2". The album features mind-blowing new Metallica covers of “The Unforgiven II” and “The Four Horsemen”, power collaborations with Metallica members, such as the new recording of “One”, with James Hetfield reciting the lyrics and Robert Trujillo on bass, as well as a cover of “The Call of Ktulu”, featuring the original bass master track recorded by Cliff Burton.
Apocalyptica is the full package: an earth-shaking wall of sound, musicianship and virtuosity second to none, explosive flair and passion, and nothing but powerful, fantastic music and showmanship.
Touring guitarist Nita Strauss is renowned for performing with many major artists such as Alice Cooper and Demi Lovato, and also have a highly successful solo career. She is the first female rock solo artist in 32 years to reach number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.
The historic Majestic Theatre on Elm Street, Dallas, has been offering the best in entertainment for decades. The venue can comfortably host up to 2,264 Apocalyptica fans spread across the balcony, mezzanine, orchestra floor, left and right lodges, and of course, the most luxurious boxes.
Take our word for it: Apocalyptica is not to be missed!
