ABOUT THE SHOW

Last year, TheaterWorksUSA unveiled a pair of musicals hitting the road, based on Dav Pilkey’s best-selling creations — DOG MAN: THE MUSICAL and CAT KID COMIC CLUB: THE MUSICAL. With an overwhelmingly positive response to their 2024 shows, Dog Man - The Musical is getting another 2025-2026 season run. 

“It’s gratifying to watch young people and families respond to these two clever, funny musicals the way they respond to Dav Pilkey’s remarkable books which celebrate kindness, individuality and fearless creativity,” Barbara Pasternack, TheaterWorksUSA Artistic Director shared in a press release.

Based on Dav Pilkey’s worldwide bestselling book, the musical follows best buds George and Harold, now in fifth grade. After years of writing comics, the unstoppable pair wanted to get their hands on making their own musical. It’s a hilarious adventure where the whole family is taken on an adventure through Dog Man’s cheeky crime-biting antics. Chewing some furniture along the way, Dog Man always saves the day. Saving the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and an army of Beasty Buildings while chasing out the world’s most evil cat, Petey, the musical packs a ton of twists and turns that’ll have everyone hooked. Packing the heartfelt, hilarious, and charming vibe of Pilkey’s work, this musical shares his artistry at its best — live on stage. Between the lines, it’s a signature piece of his creativity straight from the books. 

Written by Kevin Del Aguila and Brad Alexander — a pair that collaborated on the Emmy Award-winning “Peg + Cat” on CBS, you’re assured of a top-tier production for Dog Man. Bringing Pilkey’s creation to life in the most authentic way possible, this musical is a must-see. The talented duo has also written other live shows for TheaterWorksUSA, including “Click, Clack, Moo,” and “Clifford The Big Red Dog.”
