María José Loyola Anaya or better known as Maria Jose is a singer-songwriter and dancer known for fronting the popular Mexican band, Kabah. In 2006, she left the band to pursue a solo career. One year later, Jose released her self-titled debut album with critical acclaim. She joined the Mexican leg of Gwen Steffani’s The Sweet Escape Tour as an opening act. For her debut solo work. She received a nomination for Best New Artist t the prestigious Mexican awards show Premios Oye!
In 2009, María José made her breakthrough with her sophomore effort, Amante de Lo Ajeno. The album spawned hits like “No Soy Una Senora” and “Mi Amor Amor,” peaked at number 2 on the Mexican charts and received a double platinum certification. In 2010, Maria Jose’s third effort, Amante de lo Bueno, was released. The album became Jose’s first chart-topping effort. The platinum-selling album featured several critically acclaimed singles, such as “La Ocasion Para Amarnos,” “Un Nuevo Amor,” and “Despues De Tu Adios.”
From 2012 to 2016, Jose released a couple more highly-regarded efforts. Noche, an album featuring all original music. The gold-certified effort peaked at number 3 on the Mexican chart and number 2 on the Mexican International Albums chart. Meanwhile, Habla Ahora also took the number 3 spot on the chart thanks to phenomenal singles like “Las Que Se Ponen Bien La Falda” and “Habla Ahora.”
In 2019, Maria Jose released her first live album, Conexion. The gold-certified record contains some of the biggest hits from her previous efforts. It also served as an anniversary celebration of her breakout effort, Amante de lo ajeno. This 2023, Jose continues to bring Conexion to her fans all around the world.
