Brian Culbertson is a highly skilled musician who emerged from Decatur, Illinois. He’s notable for performing various instruments, such as the synthesizer, piano, and trombone. In 1994, Culbertson dropped his debut album, the Long Night, released via Mesa/ Bluemoon. The following year, he released his sophomore effort, Modern Life, which broke into Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart, peaking at number 38. By this time, Culbertson had become known in the jazz circuit and often received high-regarded for his excellent musicianship.
In 1999, Culbertson released his major label debut, Something’ Bout Love. The highly-regarded effort peaked at number 8 on the Top Jazz album and number 3 on the Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. The albums spawned chart-performing singles “Get’n Over You” and “I’m Gonna Miss You.” In 2003, Culbertson entered the Billboard 200 for the first time with the release of his seventh studio effort, Come On Up. The record also peaked at number 3 on the Top Contemporary Jazz and Top Jazz Albums charts. The star-studded album featured esteemed musicians Rick Braun, Marcus Miller, Norman Brown, and Rashaan Patterson.
Culbertson’s amazing career has earned numerous accolades, including nominations at the NAACP Image Award and Soul Train Award, six awards at the Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards, American Smooth Jazz Award, and many more.
